Nano il gigante dell'arte

A TOUCH OF ART

One of the major poster designers in American cinema history, Silvano Campeggi, nicknamed “Nano”, worked for the most important Hollywood productions arrived in Italy after the Second World War.

Those were the years of recreation and the colorful posters covering the ruins of the bombardments were among the few beautiful things to see, an implicit invitation to hope and to start dreaming again.

He will dedicate his time to this activity for around 20 years, signing the posters to over three thousand movies, including Gone with the wind, Ben Hur, Casablanca, Singing in the rain, West Side Story and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

In the years between the ‘50s and the ‘60s he’s known as the artist of the stars and draws thousands of portraits: among the most famous, those of Humphrey Bogart, Vivien Leigh, Audrey Hepburn, John Wayne, Sophia Loren, Marlon Brando, Rita Hayworth, Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe.

Nano’s art lives today in the beautiful illustrations created for us, like the label of our Gran Selezione, Grappa and Vin Santo.
